Privacy policy

Last updated: July 2026

This policy explains what BestTimers does with data. The short version: the site has no server of its own, no accounts and no tracking, so there is very little to explain. The detail below is provided because some of it is legally required and because you deserve to know exactly what is happening.

In one paragraph

Every timer runs inside your browser. Nothing you type, set or record is ever sent to us — we have nowhere to send it. If you allow it, the site stores your settings and running timers in your own browser so they survive a reload. Two third parties may see your IP address when the page loads: the font provider and, if advertising is enabled, the ad network.

Who is responsible

The data controller for this site is Nox Sylvain, a private individual publishing this site on a non-commercial basis in France, contactable at contact@besttimers.com. The postal address is held by the hosting provider and is available to the supervisory authority on request.

What we store, and where

BestTimers stores nothing on a server. If you accept local saving through the banner shown on your first visit, the following is written to your browser's local storage, on your own device:

This information never leaves your device. It is not readable by us or by anyone else. You can erase it at any time by declining local saving through the "Manage local saving" link in the footer, or by clearing your browser data.

If you decline, nothing at all is stored and the site resets to its defaults on every visit. Everything still works.

Consent, and how it is remembered

A single small cookie records your answer to the local-saving question, so you are not asked again on every visit. It contains nothing but that yes-or-no answer, and it is not used for tracking.

Advertising

If advertising is enabled on this site, third-party vendors — including Google — may place and read cookies in your browser, or use similar technologies, in order to serve ads based on your previous visits to this or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites.

You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of participating vendors at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu. Within the European Economic Area and the UK, personalised advertising is only used where you have given consent, which you can change or withdraw at any time.

What we do not do

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data on any server, most data requests can be resolved by you directly: clearing your browser storage removes everything this site has kept. Where applicable law gives you rights over data held by us — access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, or the right to withdraw consent — you may exercise them by writing to contact@besttimers.com.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, our legal basis for storing anything on your device is your consent, and you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of what came before. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority — in France, the CNIL.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Nothing on the page requires a user to identify themselves.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Since no personal data reaches a server, there is no database to breach — the strongest security guarantee available is simply not holding the data in the first place.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Substantive changes affecting how your data is handled will be signalled on the site itself.

Contact

Questions about this policy: contact@besttimers.com, or through the contact page.

This policy is written to be accurate and readable rather than exhaustive. It is not legal advice. If your circumstances are unusual, or if you operate the site commercially at scale, have it reviewed by a qualified professional.
